Ian Nelson was born and raised in California. He attended college in San Luis Obispo California and moved to Maui in 2007 to pursue his passion for ocean sports. Since moving to Hawaii, Ian spent the last ten years learning and working in the boating industry. When he is not talking about himself in the third person, Ian enjoys  surfing, free-diving, and photography. In addition to photographing underwater fine art, Ian also photographs weddings, portraits and corporate events. Ian also loves to travel. He has visited many countries including Mexico, Canada, Italy, Japan, China, Indonesia, and Malaysia on assignment.
